Be Kind Sydney Covid-19 Appeal is funding 'Our Community Pantry' with $37,000 so they can feed local families affected by drought, bushfires, coronavirus, family abuse and financial difficulty. Making sure no child has to see their parent struggle to put food on the table.
Over 4 million Australians struggle with food insecurity and yet, 8.2 million tonnes of food is waste generated in Australia and landfill costs the economy an estimated $20 billion a year.
Our Community Pantry is redirecting food from waste to families in need. With a pay as you can model, people keen to reduce their environmental footprint can also order their hampers and this helps cover the costs of providing for others in need.
Be Kind Sydney is delighted to support Wholeheart Communities an innovative charity making a difference in our community. This video was prepared to share their work with our partner Bennelong Foundation who have pledged $27,000 to support Our Community Pantry through Be Kind Sydney.
